Statistical Analyses of Fingerprint Growth
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study the effect of growth on the fingerprints of adolescents, based on which we suggest a simple method to adjust for growth when trying to retrieve an adolescent’s fingerprint in a database years later. Here, we focus on the statistical analyses used to determine how fingerprints grow: Procrustes analysis allows us to establish that fingerprints grow isotropically, an appropriate mixed effects model shows that fingerprints essentially grow proportionally to body height. The resulting growth model is validated by showing that it brings points of interest as close as if both fingerprints were taken from an adult. Further details on this study, in particular results when applying our growth model in verification and identification tests, can be found inC. Gottschlich, T. Hotz, R. Lorenz, S. Bernhardt, M. Hantschel and A. Munk: Modeling the Growth of Fingerprints Improves Matching for Adolescents, IEEE Transations on Information Forensics and Security, 2011 (to appear).

Background: Human skin more than any other part of the body, is exposed to the risks of diseases and complications of labor. One of the applications of study on the relationship between skin and diseases is use of fingerprints in the diagnosis and the subsequent treatment of it. We analyzed the fingerprint images of two systematic diseases namely diabetes and addiction. Methods: The f...
متن کاملComparative analysis of volatiles difference of Yunnan sun-dried Pu-erh green tea from different tea mountains: Jingmai and Wuliang mountain by chemical fingerprint similarity combined with principal component analysis and cluster analysis.
BACKGROUND Modern instrumental analysis technology can provide various chemical data and information on tea samples. Unfortunately, it remains difficult to extract the useful information. We describe the use of chemical fingerprint similarities, combined with principal component and cluster analyses, to distinguish and recognize Pu-erh green teas, which from two tea mountains, Wuliang and Jingm...
متن کاملBiometric Matching and Fusion System for Fingerprints from Non-Distal Phalanges
Market research indicates that fingerprints are still the most popular biometric modality for personal authentication. Even with the onset of new modalities (e.g. vein matching), many applications within different domains (e-ID, banking, border control...) and geographies rely on fingerprints obtained from the distal phalanges (a.k.a. sections, digits) of the human hand structure. Motivated by ...
متن کاملAn Automatic Fingerprint Classification Algorithm
Manual fingerprint classification algorithms are very time consuming, and usually not accurate. Fast and accurate fingerprint classification is essential to each AFIS (Automatic Fingerprint Identification System). This paper investigates a fingerprint classification algorithm that reduces the complexity and costs associated with the fingerprint identification procedure. A new structural algorit...
